Caregiving, Complex Family and Kinship Ties, and Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD)

Abstract

This MiCDA Booster project seeks to enhance an understanding of understudied family and unpaid caregiver experiences, especially for those caring for an older adult living with dementia. The booster adds a new aim to current funded research, “Caregiving, Complex Family and Kinship Ties, and Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD)” work and includes 1.) recruiting understudied groups of caregivers providing for an older adult with dementia including, A.) young caregivers (ages 18 to 24), B.) LGBTQ+ caregivers, C.) fictive kin/friend caregivers, and D.) extended family caregivers.
