The Michigan Center on the Demography of Aging (MiCDA) offers a stipend program for early career researchers working in the MiCDA enclave.

Applications are due November 1 and May 1 of each year. Applications are now being accepted.

Details

U.S.-based researchers meeting NIH Early Stage or New Investigator criteria can apply for a stipend of up to $1,250 to defray costs associated with MiCDA enclave-based research (e.g., a methods course; travel to present findings; publication costs).

Applications require details about eligibility, a 1 page abstract, and a description of how the stipend will be used.

Preference will be given to researchers who are new to the MiCDA enclave, are at U.S.-based institutions other than the University of Michigan, have a need for resources related to their enclave-based research that is not covered by their institution, are focused on one of MiCDA’s signature themes, and will use the stipend to enhance the likelihood of publication of their MiCDA-enclave based research.

Please note that stipend funds may not be used for salary or wage support, membership fees, general office supplies, equipment unrelated to the proposed enclave-based research, or other expenses not directly tied to the approved project. Additional restrictions may apply.

Recipients will be expected to acknowledge MiCDA support (P30AG012846) in any resulting publications, presentations, or other research products. Recipients may also be asked to provide brief follow-up information to MiCDA for reporting purposes, including updates on project progress, presentations, publications, or other outcomes supported by the stipend.
