Each of the UMAging research centers holds an annual pilot project competition. The Centers have complimentary themes and varying eligibility requirements.

MiCDA invites proposals on social and behavioral aspects of aging related to its signature research themes; specific topics vary from year to year. Early-career stage or established investigators new to the demography of aging research from UM may apply. For questions related to MiCDA’s pilot project competition, contact Jana Deatrick.

PEPPER OAIC invites proposals on the role of metabolic factors and inflammation on age-related diseases and comorbidities and functional status.  Junior faculty below the rank of Associate Professor or senior faculty new to aging research from UM may apply. For questions related to Pepper’s pilot project competition, contact Katie Hildebrand.

MCUAAAR invites proposals focused on behavioral and social science research on the physical and mental health of older African Americans with a life course lens. Junior faculty and research scientists/investigators (equivalent to Assistant Professor) may apply. For questions related to MCUAAR’s pilot project competition, contact Deborah Robinson.

MADRC invites proposals focused on Alzheimer’s disease and/or non-beta-amyloid related dementias.  Junior investigators or established investigators new to ADRD research from UM, MSU, Wayne Sate, or the Ann Arbor VA may apply. For questions related to MADRC’s pilot project competition, contact Ari Bhaumik.

MCCFAD invites proposals focused on ADRD disparities research, epidemiology of AD, AD and culturally sensitive care and health economics. Junior investigators or established investigators new to ADRD/ADRD disparities research who meet NIH’s underrepresented population criteria and/or demonstrate sustained interest in health of disadvantaged group(s) may apply. CAPRA  invites proposals focused on Alzheimer’s Disease and related Dementias (ADRD) healthcare delivery, economics and policy.  Junior investigators or established investigators new to ADRD research may apply. For questions related to CAPRA’s pilot project competition, contact Jason Mann.
